project description

With financial assistance from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), BOME Québec decided to launch a pilot project for voluntary energy consumption data reporting.

This project was developed in parallel with another BOMA Québec initiative, the Building Energy Challenge. This initiative was launched in May 2018 and is aimed at reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions in commercial, institutional and multi-residential buildings in Quebec through healthy competition among owners.

This project also echoed the objective defined by Transition énergétique Québec (TEQ) aimed at rendering it obligatory to report energy data in the commercial sector by 2023.

highlights

BOMA Québec mandated Econoler to design the pilot project that is targeted at collecting, on a voluntary basis, energy consumption data in commercial and institutional buildings to foster reporting energy data and comparing the performance of buildings whose owners participate.

The mandate included the following tasks:

  • Index similar initiatives;
  • Identify the factors that make such initiatives successful;
  • Design the pilot project.

After this mandate was completed, BOMA Québec had all the tools necessary to launch the pilot project.
